Biography

Edi Mūe Gathegi is a Kenyan-American actor. Born on 10 March 1979 in Nairobi, Kenya, he grew up in Albany, California. He studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he began acting after a knee injury ended his basketball career, and later earned an MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2005. His early work was in theatre.

Gathegi’s screen breakthrough came with the role of Dr. Jeffrey Cole on the television series House (2007). He appeared as Cheese in Gone Baby Gone (2007), Laurent in Twilight (2008) and The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), and Darwin in X-Men: First Class (2011). Other credits include Matias Solomon on The Blacklist (2013–2017) and its spin-off The Blacklist: Redemption, Dev Ayesa on For All Mankind (2022–), and Mister Terrific in Superman (2025). He is married to Adriana Marinescu.
