Biography
Edna Doré, born Edna Lillian Gorring, was a British actress. She was born on 31 May 1921 in Bromley, Kent, and died on 11 April 2014 in Sussex.
She began her career as a chorus girl with ENSA during the Second World War, then worked in repertory theatre for many years and spent a decade at the National Theatre. She appeared in West End productions including Oliver! and Billy. Doré played Mo Butcher in EastEnders (1988–1990) and took roles in Mike Leigh films High Hopes (1988), for which she received the Best Supporting Player award at the 1989 European Film Awards, All or Nothing (2002) and Another Year (2010).
Her other film credits include Les Misérables (1998) and Nil by Mouth (1997) as Kath. She appeared in television series including Doctor Who (2005), Gavin & Stacey (2007), Midsomer Murders (1997) and Shameless (2004). She was married to actor and director Alexander Doré from 1946 until his death in 2002.
