Biography
Edward Andrews (1914–1985) was an American stage, film and television actor. Born Edward Bryan Andrews Jr. in Griffin, Georgia, he made his stage debut as a child and appeared on Broadway from 1935. He attended the University of Virginia and worked in theatre for two decades before entering films in his forties.
Andrews became a familiar character actor in the 1950s and 1960s, often playing businessmen, officials or authority figures. His film credits include Elmer Gantry (1960), Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) and, late in his career, Sixteen Candles (1984) and Gremlins (1984), in which he played Mr. Corben. He also made numerous television appearances.
