Biography
Emily Spivey is an American television writer and producer. Born in Statesville, North Carolina, she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and earned an MFA in screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University. She trained with The Groundlings in Los Angeles before beginning her career writing for MADtv.
Spivey wrote for King of the Hill in 2002 before joining the staff of Saturday Night Live from 2001 to 2010, where she won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2002 and a Writers Guild of America Award in 2008. She later wrote episodes of Parks and Recreation (2011) and Modern Family (2013). She created the series Up All Night (2011) and Bless the Harts (2019), and contributed to The Last Man on Earth (2015) and other programmes.
