Biography
Emma Dunn was an English character actress who worked on stage and in motion pictures. She began her career as a teenager on the London stage and became a noted Broadway performer, appearing in productions including the first American staging of Ibsen's Peer Gynt (1906) and three plays produced by David Belasco.
Dunn made her film debut in the 1914 silent Mother and continued in both silent and sound pictures, often in supporting roles. She is credited as Mrs. Jaeckel in The Great Dictator (1940) and appeared in films including Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), Son of Frankenstein (1939), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (1941), The Talk of the Town (1942) and Life with Father (1947). She also wrote two books on elocution and speech.
