Biography
Eric Alan Edwards is an American cinematographer. Born on 10 August 1953 in Portland, Oregon, he graduated with a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1975. He began his career in documentaries and commercials before moving into feature films.
Edwards is known for his work on independent films directed by Gus Van Sant, including Drugstore Cowboy (1989, second unit photography), My Own Private Idaho (1991, shared cinematography credit with John J. Campbell) and Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993). His other credits include To Die For (1995), Cop Land (1997), Knocked Up (2007), The Break-Up (2006) and Dirty Grandpa (2016). He received a Student Academy Award for American Taboo (1984) and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for My Own Private Idaho.
