Biography
Eugenio Caballero is a Mexican production designer. Born in 1972 in Mexico City, he was raised there and studied the history of art and the history of cinema in Florence, Italy.
His career began in Mexico with work on music videos and short films before he moved into feature films as an assistant and set decorator. He has worked on nearly 30 films as production designer or in related art department roles, including Pan's Labyrinth (2006) and Roma (2018). He has collaborated with directors such as Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón, J. A. Bayona and Jim Jarmusch.
Caballero won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction for Pan's Labyrinth and received an Academy Award nomination for Roma. He has also won Ariel Awards and other honours, and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
