Biography
Everett McGill is an American actor. Born on 21 October 1945 in Miami Beach, Florida, he trained at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and began his career on Broadway, appearing in productions including Equus (1974), A Texas Trilogy (1976) and Whose Life Is It Anyway? (1980). He received a Drama Desk Award nomination for his work in A Texas Trilogy.
McGill is known for film roles such as Naoh in Quest for Fire (1981), Stilgar in Dune (1984), Major Malcolm A. Powers in Heartbreak Ridge (1986), Ed Killifer in Licence to Kill (1989) and the Man in The People Under the Stairs (1991). On television he played Big Ed Hurley in the series Twin Peaks (1990–1991). He retired from acting in 1999 but returned to reprise the role in the 2017 revival series.
