Biography
Fannie Flagg is an American actress, comedian and author. Born Patricia Neal on 21 September 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama, she began her career in television, writing for and appearing on Candid Camera before becoming a regular panellist on Match Game.
She is known for acting roles in films including Five Easy Pieces (1970) and Grease (1978), and on television series such as Wonder Woman and The Love Boat. Flagg wrote the bestselling 1987 novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe and co-wrote the screenplay for its 1991 film adaptation, for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
