Biography

Gabriella Pescucci is an Italian costume designer. She studied art at the Accademia in Florence and moved to Rome in 1966 to work in film. She began her career as an assistant to Piero Tosi on productions including Pasolini's Medea and Visconti's Death in Venice.

Her international debut came with Once Upon a Time in America (1984). She won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for The Age of Innocence (1993). Other credits include The Name of the Rose (1986), The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Beowulf (2007) and the television series Penny Dreadful (2014). She has received two BAFTA Film Awards and has collaborated with directors including Federico Fellini, Sergio Leone, Terry Gilliam and Martin Scorsese. Pescucci has also designed for opera.
