Biography

Gary Houston is an American actor and playwright. He has worked extensively in Chicago theatre as an actor, director and writer, creating the role of Roger in the 1971 world premiere of the musical Grease at the Kingston Mines Theatre Company. He co-wrote the play E/R (Emergency Room), which formed the basis for the 1984–1985 television series of the same name.

Houston's film credits include the Irate Customer in Fargo (1996), a Nazi in The Blues Brothers (1980), John McLaughlin in Watchmen (2009) and Professor Barrow in Proof (2005). He has also appeared in television series such as Fargo (2014) and Chicago Med (2015). He previously worked as a writer and editor at the Chicago Sun-Times and taught acting at Columbia College Chicago. He has been married to Hedda Lubin since 2004.
