Biography
George Meader was an American actor. Before his film career he was a leading character tenor at the Metropolitan Opera in New York from 1921 to 1935, making his debut in Korngold's Die tote Stadt and performing major tenor roles in operas by Wagner, including David in Die Meistersinger and Mime in Siegfried.
Meader appeared in numerous films from the early 1940s onwards, often in uncredited or small parts. His credits include roles in Spellbound (1945), Mildred Pierce (1945), Scarlet Street (1945), On the Town (1949) as the Professor, The Enforcer (1951) and The Young Lions (1958). He died in 1963.
