Biography

George S. Clinton is an American composer, songwriter, arranger and session musician. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he earned degrees in music and drama at Middle Tennessee State University. He began his professional career in Nashville as a songwriter and session musician before moving to Los Angeles, where he became a staff writer for Warner Bros. Music and recorded albums for several labels.

Clinton is known for his film scores, including Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) and its sequels Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002), as well as Mortal Kombat (1995) and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997). He has received a Grammy nomination, an Emmy nomination and multiple BMI Film Music Awards, including the Richard Kirk Career Achievement Award in 2007. He has also written concert works and musicals, and served as chair of the Film Scoring Department at Berklee College of Music.
