Biography
Gerard McCarthy is an actor from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Born on 31 March 1981, he trained at Laine Theatre Arts on Sir Kenneth Branagh's Renaissance Scholarship, graduating in 2002.
McCarthy is known for playing Kris Fisher in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks (2006–2010), for which he received nominations at the British Soap Awards and National Television Awards. Other television roles include Kevin McSwain in The Fall (2013–2016), Brondsted in Vikings (2013), Terry Davidson in Call the Midwife (2018), and Ashley Stokes in Titanic: Blood and Steel (2012). He appeared as Bobby Frank in the film Belfast (2021).
In 2025, McCarthy played Jim Scott in the Channel 4 series Trespasses.
