Biography
Gerry Fisher (1926–2014) was an English cinematographer. After service in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, he worked as a clapper boy and focus puller before becoming a camera operator on The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957). He made his debut as director of photography on Joseph Losey’s Accident (1967) and collaborated with Losey on several further films, including The Go-Between (1971).
Fisher’s other credits as director of photography include Mr. Klein (1976), Escape to Victory (1981), Highlander (1986) and The Exorcist III (1990). He worked with directors such as Tony Richardson, Sidney Lumet and John Huston. He received BAFTA nominations for The Go-Between and Aces High (1976), a British Society of Cinematographers nomination for the latter, and a César nomination for Monsieur Klein (1976).
