Biography
Gilbert R. Hill, also credited as Gil Hill, was an American actor, police officer and politician. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he served for many years with the Detroit Police Department, rising to commander and head of the homicide division before retiring in 1989.
Hill gained recognition for playing Inspector Todd, the superior officer to Eddie Murphy's character Axel Foley, in the three Beverly Hills Cop films (1984, 1987 and 1994). After his police career he was elected to the Detroit City Council and served as its president from 1997. He stood unsuccessfully as a candidate for mayor of Detroit in 2001.
