Biography
Donald Clarence Simpson (29 October 1943 – 19 January 1996) was an American film producer, screenwriter and actor. He began his career in the 1970s at Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures before forming a long-running partnership with producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Together they produced a series of commercially successful films including Flashdance (1983), Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Top Gun (1986), Days of Thunder (1990) and The Rock (1996). Simpson also appeared as Aldo Bennedetti in Days of Thunder. In 1985 and 1988 the pair were named Producers of the Year by the National Association of Theatre Owners.
