Biography
Giles New is a British actor and writer. He is best known for portraying the character Murtogg, a bumbling Royal Navy sailor, in three films of the Pirates of the Caribbean series: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), At World's End (2007) and Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017).
New began acting in the late 1990s with appearances in British television series including The Bill (1998) and EastEnders. He has also featured in films such as St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold (2009) and the television series Merlin (2012). In addition to acting, he works as a writer and voice director on animated series and feature films, including Ronja, the Robber's Daughter (2014–2015) and projects for Disney, Aardman and CBBC.
