Biography
Gillian Flynn is an American author and screenwriter. Born on 24 February 1971 in Kansas City, Missouri, she graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in English and journalism and later earned a master's degree from Northwestern University. She worked as a writer and critic for Entertainment Weekly before turning to fiction full time.
Flynn is best known for her novels Sharp Objects (2006), Dark Places (2009) and Gone Girl (2012). She wrote the screenplay for the 2014 film adaptation of Gone Girl, directed by David Fincher, and the screenplay for Widows (2018). She created and wrote the television series Utopia (2020) and adapted Sharp Objects for the 2018 HBO limited series.
