Biography
Gloria Katz (25 October 1942 – 25 November 2018) was an American screenwriter and film producer. She studied English at the University of California, Berkeley, and earned a master's degree in film from UCLA. In 1969 she married screenwriter Willard Huyck, with whom she frequently collaborated.
Katz and Huyck co-wrote the screenplay for American Graffiti (1973) with George Lucas; the film earned them an Academy Award nomination and awards from the National Society of Film Critics and the New York Film Critics Circle. They contributed uncredited script work to Star Wars (1977), including dialogue and developments for Princess Leia. Their other credits include the screenplays for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Howard the Duck (1986), as well as writing and producing Messiah of Evil (1975) and French Postcards (1979).
