Biography

Goran Višnjić is a Croatian actor. Born on 9 September 1972 in Šibenik, then part of Yugoslavia, he trained at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. At the age of 21 he played the title role in Hamlet at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, becoming the youngest actor to do so and winning several national awards, including an Orlando.

He is best known for his role as Dr. Luka Kovač in the NBC series ER (1999–2008). He made his American film debut in Welcome to Sarajevo (1997) and has appeared in films including Practical Magic (1998), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) and Beginners (2011). He is married to Eva Višnjić, daughter of Croatian film director Antun Vrdoljak.
