Biography
Grandon Rhodes was an American actor. Born Grandon Neviers Augustine Rolker on 7 August 1904 in Jersey City, New Jersey, he began his career in repertory theatre with companies in cities including Montreal, Oklahoma City, Omaha and Hartford. He appeared on Broadway in productions such as Antony and Cleopatra (1924), Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1938) and Flight to the West (1940). His film work began in the early 1940s.
Rhodes appeared in numerous films, including Shadow of a Doubt (1943), All the King's Men (1949), Born Yesterday (1950) as Sanborn, House of Wax (1953) and Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956). On television he was a regular as the doctor in Bonanza and as a judge in Perry Mason, and had a recurring role as banker Chester Vanderlip in The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show. He was married to actress Ruth Lee.
Rhodes died on 9 June 1987 in Encino, California, aged 82.
