Biography
Gregory Sierra was an American actor. Born in New York City, he began his career on stage with the National Shakespeare Company and at the New York Shakespeare Festival before moving to Los Angeles in the late 1960s.
He appeared in numerous television series and films. His credits include a guest role as Lou D'Allessandro in the Columbo episode 'Publish or Perish' (1974), as well as recurring roles as Julio Fuentes on Sanford and Son and Detective Sergeant Chano Amengual on Barney Miller. Other notable television work includes appearances on Miami Vice, The X-Files, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Film roles include Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), Papillon (1973), The Towering Inferno (1974) and Hot Shots! Part Deux (1993).
Sierra died in Laguna Woods, California, in 2021.
