Biography
Guy Doleman (22 November 1923 – 30 January 1996) was a New Zealand-born actor who worked in Australia, Britain and the United States. He began his career in Australian film and radio in the late 1940s, appearing in titles such as Always Another Dawn (1948) and Strong Is the Seed (1949), and became a regular on radio drama including Hagen's Circus.
In 1952 he won an Actor's Choice award for a radio performance and used the prize to travel to Hollywood, where he took an uncredited role as a detective in Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M for Murder (1954). He later moved to Britain and gained recognition in the 1960s for playing Count Lippe in the James Bond film Thunderball (1965), Colonel Ross in the Harry Palmer spy films The Ipcress File (1965), Funeral in Berlin (1966) and Billion Dollar Brain (1967), and the first Number Two in The Prisoner (1967). He returned to Australia periodically and eventually settled in Los Angeles, where he died of lung cancer.
