Biography
Hailey Benton Gates, also credited as Hailey Gates, is an American actress, model, director and journalist. She was born on 28 March 1990 in Los Angeles, California, and graduated with a BFA in experimental theatre from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2012.
Gates began her career in modelling and journalism, working as an editor at The Paris Review before hosting the Viceland documentary series States of Undress. Her acting credits include supporting roles in Ricki and the Flash (2015), Uncut Gems (2019), Challengers (2024), Marty Supreme (2025) and The Drama (2026), in which she plays Misha. She has also appeared in Twin Peaks (2017).
As a director and writer, Gates made her feature debut with Atropia (2025). Her maternal grandmother is screenwriter Joan Tewkesbury.
