Biography

Hendrik 'Henk' Handloegten is a German screenwriter and director. Born in Celle in 1968, he studied at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (dffb), graduating in 2000 with the short film Paul Is Dead.

He co-wrote the screenplay for Wolfgang Becker's Good Bye, Lenin! (2003). Handloegten is one of the co-creators, writers and directors of the neo-noir series Babylon Berlin (2017–), working with Achim von Borries and Tom Tykwer. He also co-wrote the screenplay for Paweł Pawlikowski's Fatherland (2026).

Other credits include writing and directing Learning to Lie (2003) and Summer Window (2011). He is married to actress Fritzi Haberlandt.
