Biography
Hilary Bevan Jones is a British television producer. She began her career at the BBC in 1979 as a floor assistant, having previously worked as a teacher in Essex. During the 1980s she contributed to comedy programmes including Not the Nine O'Clock News and Blackadder, and became a producer in 1988 on Red Dwarf.
She left the BBC in 1990 and produced the Granada series Cracker (1993), where she first collaborated with writer Paul Abbott. In 1994 she founded Endor Productions. After again working with Abbott on the BBC series State of Play (2003), they established Tightrope Pictures, which produced The Girl in the Café (2005). She served as chairman of BAFTA from 2006 to 2008, the first woman in the role. Her other credits include The Boat That Rocked (2009), Roald Dahl's Esio Trot (2015) and Blithe Spirit (2020).
