Biography

Hisashi Igawa is a Japanese actor born on 17 November 1936 in Shenyang, Occupied Manchuria. He has appeared in film since 1955.

Igawa is known for supporting roles in several films directed by Akira Kurosawa, including Dodes'ka-den (1970), Ran (1985) as Shuri Kurogane, Dreams (1990), Rhapsody in August (1991) and Madadayo (1993). His other credits include Harakiri (1962) as a retainer, Tampopo (1985) and Boiling Point (1990).

In 1969 he starred in Abe Kōbō's production of the play The Man Who Turned Into A Stick.
