Biography
Hooper Atchley was an American film actor. Born Lemuel Hooper Atchley in Ebenezer, Tennessee, in 1887, he began his career on the stage with stock companies and Broadway appearances in productions including Jarnegan (1928), Across the Street (1924) and Marie Dressler's 'All Star Gambol' (1913).
He appeared in more than 200 films between 1929 and 1944, frequently in uncredited bit parts. His credits include the Insurance Agent in Trouble in Paradise (1932), the father in the Our Gang short Birthday Blues (1932), and roles in Freaks (1932), Queen Christina (1934), The Little Foxes (1941) and The Pride of the Yankees (1942). He also worked in Westerns and serials.
Atchley died in Hollywood, California, in 1943.
