Biography
Hugh Keays-Byrne (18 May 1947 – 2 December 2020) was a British-Australian actor. He began his career on stage in England as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He emigrated to Australia in 1973 and appeared in supporting roles in films including Stone (1974) and The Man from Hong Kong (1975).
Keays-Byrne was best known for his performances as the antagonist Toecutter in Mad Max (1979) and as Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). He also played Grunchlk in the television series Farscape (1999–2003) and its miniseries conclusion Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (2004). He was nominated for an AACTA Award and won a Logie Award for his work in the television drama Rush.
