Biography
Ian Chang is a drummer, composer and producer. Born on 7 October 1988 in British Hong Kong, he studied classical percussion and piano at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He moved to the United States in 2007 and graduated from New York University with a degree in jazz drumming in 2011.
Chang is a core member of the experimental band Son Lux alongside Ryan Lott and Rafiq Bhatia. With the trio he co-composed the score for the 2022 film Everything Everywhere All at Once, which received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations for Best Original Score. The band also composed the music for the 2025 film Thunderbolts*.
