Biography
Ian Rakoff is a film editor, screenwriter and author. Born in South Africa in 1939, he moved to the United Kingdom and began working in the film industry in the 1960s.
He served as assistant editor on Lindsay Anderson’s if.... (1968) and John Boorman’s Deliverance (1972). Rakoff also worked as assistant editor on the television series The Prisoner (1967) and wrote the episode 'Living in Harmony' (1968).
He has collaborated with directors including Stephen Frears and Nicolas Roeg, and is the author of the book Inside the Prisoner: Radical Television and Film in the 1960s (1998). Rakoff is a noted collector of American comics, with a significant collection acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum.
