Biography
Ian Whyte is a Welsh actor, stuntman and former professional basketball player. Born on 17 September 1971 in Bangor, Wales, he stands 7 ft 1 in (2.16 m) tall and often portrays large or non-human characters.
After a basketball career that included playing for clubs across Europe, winning a domestic treble with FC Porto in 1997, and earning 80 caps for the England national team, Whyte retired in 2003 and entered acting. He is known for roles including Scar in Alien vs. Predator (2004), the Last Engineer in Prometheus (2012), various giants and White Walkers in Game of Thrones (2011–2019), and the Mound Dweller in The Northman (2022). He also appeared as Oozaru in Dragonball Evolution (2009) and performed puppeteering work on Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024).
