Biography
Isaac Hayes (1942–2008) was an American actor, musician and songwriter. He voiced the character Chef in the animated series South Park from 1997 to 2006 and reprised the role in the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
Hayes appeared in films including Escape from New York (1981) as the Duke of New York, Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) as Asneeze, and Shaft (2000). He also had guest roles in television series such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990), Stargate SG-1 (1997) and That '70s Show (1998).
Best known as a soul musician and composer, Hayes won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Theme from Shaft" in 1972. He was born in Covington, Tennessee, and died in 2008.
