Biography
J. C. Nugent, also credited as John Charles Nugent, was an American actor, playwright, director and screenwriter. A veteran of the stage and vaudeville, he made his Broadway debut in 1922 in the comedy Kempy, which he wrote, and continued to write and direct plays into the 1940s while appearing in around 20 films between 1929 and 1943.
He is known for supporting roles in films including Wise Girls (1929), The Big House (1930) as Mr. Marlowe, Modern Times (1936) as a department store section manager (uncredited), and A Star Is Born (1937) as Mr. Blodgett. Nugent was the father of actor, writer and producer Elliott Nugent, with whom he sometimes collaborated.
