Biography
J.R. Horne (1944–2016) was an American actor known for supporting roles in film and television, as well as work on Broadway and as a voice artist. Born in Paris, Texas, he began his career in radio as a disc jockey at KDKA-AM in Pittsburgh before moving to New York to pursue acting.
He appeared in several films directed by the Coen brothers, including O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) as Pappy's Staff, Burn After Reading (2008) as the divorce lawyer, and Hail, Caesar! (2016) as Curly. Other screen credits include Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) as Sgt. John Turley, Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011) as Arnold, and Radio Days (1987).
Horne performed on Broadway in productions such as The Crucible (2002) and Inherit the Wind (1996). He also provided voices for video games including the Grand Theft Auto series and narrated audiobooks.
