Biography
Jack Maxsted was a British art director and production designer. Born Albert John Maxsted on 30 April 1916 in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, he worked in film from 1939 to 1979.
He received production design credit on Nicholas and Alexandra (1971), for which he shared the Academy Award for Best Art Direction with John Box, Ernest Archer and Gil Parrondo (set decoration by Vernon Dixon). His other art direction credits include Diamonds Are Forever (1971), Papillon (1973), Jason and the Argonauts (1963), Battle of Britain (1969), The Deep (1977) and Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976).
Maxsted died in September 2001 in Bath, Somerset.
