Biography

James Anderson was an American actor who appeared in films and on television from the 1940s to the 1960s. He is known for playing Bob Ewell in To Kill a Mockingbird (1962). He was sometimes billed as Kyle James or Jim Anderson.

Anderson made more than 120 appearances, many in westerns where he often played gunmen or outlaws. His other film roles include the Chain Gang Warden in Take the Money and Run (1969), a sergeant in Little Big Man (1970) and the preacher in The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970). The last two films were released after his death. He also appeared in episodes of Perry Mason and Bonanza.

He had a sister, the actress Mary Anderson. Two of his films were released posthumously following his death in 1969.
