Biography
James Laurenson (1940–2024) was a New Zealand-born stage and screen actor based in the United Kingdom. He studied theatre at Canterbury University College in Christchurch, where he was directed by Ngaio Marsh, and moved to Britain in the mid-1960s.
Laurenson began his film career with a small role in Women in Love (1969) and appeared as Pink's Father in Pink Floyd – The Wall (1982). He performed extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company and took leading roles in stage productions including Edward II (1970) and the musical 42nd Street (1984). His television credits include series such as Space: 1999 (1975), Inspector Morse, Midsomer Murders, Endeavour, Hustle and The Crown (2016), as well as films including The Riot Club (2014) and Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical (2022).
