Biography
James Pickens Jr. is an American actor. Born on 26 October 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University in 1976. He began his professional career on stage in New York, appearing in productions including A Raisin in the Sun and A Soldier's Play.
Pickens is best known for portraying Dr Richard Webber in the ABC series Grey's Anatomy (2005–). He has also played Deputy Director Alvin Kersh in The X-Files and appeared in films including Sleepers (1996), Traffic (2000) and 42 (2013). He has received a Screen Actors Guild Award for ensemble cast and NAACP Image Awards.
