Biography
Jan Matthys is a Belgian film and television director. He began his career directing non-fiction programmes before moving into fiction with series such as Katarakt (2007) and De Smaak van De Keyser (2008).
Matthys has directed episodes of several British series, including three episodes of Shetland (2013) in 2016, for which he received a BAFTA Scotland nomination. His other credits include Quiz Me Quick (2012), In Vlaamse Velden (2014), Baptiste (2019), Vikings: Valhalla (2022) and Outlander (2014). His feature-film debut was Vele Hemels boven de Zevende (2017).
