Biography
Jeanne Bates (21 May 1918 – 28 November 2007) was an American actress who worked in radio, film and television. She began her career performing in radio serials while a student at San Mateo Junior College and signed a contract with Columbia Pictures in 1942.
Her early film roles included parts in horror and noir pictures such as The Return of the Vampire (1943) and Shadows in the Night (1946). In later years she appeared in David Lynch’s Eraserhead (1977) as Mrs. X and Mulholland Drive (2001) as Irene. She also had recurring and guest roles on television series including Ben Casey and The Twilight Zone.
