Biography
Jerome Hellman was an American film producer. He began his career as a talent agent in New York before turning to producing feature films in the 1960s.
His credits include The World of Henry Orient (1964), A Fine Madness (1966), Midnight Cowboy (1969), The Day of the Locust (1975), Coming Home (1978) and The Mosquito Coast (1986). He also directed Promises in the Dark (1979). Midnight Cowboy won the Academy Award for Best Picture; Coming Home received a nomination in the same category. Hellman made a single screen appearance, as Gary Burns in Hal Ashby's Being There (1979).
Hellman was born in New York City on 4 September 1928 and died on 26 May 2021.
