Biography
Jim Lovell (1928–2025) was an American astronaut who also contributed to film as the co-author of the book on which the 1995 feature Apollo 13 was based, and appeared in a cameo role as Captain James Lovell in the 1976 film The Man Who Fell to Earth.
He commanded the Apollo 13 lunar mission in 1970 and had earlier served as command module pilot on Apollo 8. Lovell received the Congressional Space Medal of Honor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
