Biography

Jo Willems is a Belgian cinematographer. Born in November 1970 in Belgium, he studied film at the LUCA School of Arts before relocating to the United Kingdom at the age of 21.

He is known for long-term collaborations with directors David Slade and Francis Lawrence. Willems served as cinematographer on Slade’s Hard Candy (2005) and 30 Days of Night (2007), and on Lawrence’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015), The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023) and The Long Walk (2025). Other credits include Limitless (2011), Red Sparrow (2018), Finch (2021) and His House (2020), for which he received a British Independent Film Award nomination for Best Cinematography.
