Biography
Joanne Woodward is an American actress. Born on 27 February 1930 in Thomasville, Georgia, she trained at Louisiana State University and the Actors Studio before making her screen debut in the mid-1950s.
She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for The Three Faces of Eve (1957). Woodward starred as Rachel Cameron in Rachel, Rachel (1968), directed by her husband Paul Newman, with whom she frequently collaborated. Other notable films include The Long, Hot Summer (1958), The Fugitive Kind (1960), Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams (1973) and Mr. & Mrs. Bridge (1990). She has also appeared in television and received multiple Emmy and Golden Globe awards.
