Biography
Joel Anderson Thompson is an American television writer and producer, also credited as Joel Thompson. He began his career as a story editor and writer on the crime drama Boomtown (2003). He studied for an MFA in writing for film, theatre and television at New York University after leaving medical school, and he is a member of the Writers Guild of America.
Thompson wrote for House (2005, as Joel Thompson), Battlestar Galactica (2005–2006, including the episode "Epiphanies", as executive story editor), Falling Skies (2011) and Krypton (2019). He created and executive-produced the series Superstition (2017–2018) and contributed to Masters of the Air (2024) and Roswell, New Mexico (2021–2022).
He has taught screenwriting at UCLA Extension and other institutions.
