Biography
John Alexander is a British television director. He grew up in the East Durham Coalfield and joined the BBC as a post-graduate trainee, where he produced documentaries before moving into drama directing.
His credits include episodes of Life on Mars (2006), Sense and Sensibility (2008), Survivors (2008), Zen (2011), Exile (2011), The 7.39 (2014), Jamestown (2017), Belgravia (2020) and Grace (2021). Small Island (2009) won an International Emmy for Best Mini-Series. Sense and Sensibility won the Magnolia Best Director Prize at the Shanghai International Film Festival. Exile received a BAFTA nomination for Best Director Fiction and One Child (2014) a Royal Television Society nomination for Best Director Fiction.
