Biography
John Nicholas Calley (1930–2011) was an American film producer and studio executive. He began his career in television at NBC before moving into feature production at Filmways, where he worked as associate producer on films including The Americanization of Emily (1964) and The Cincinnati Kid (1965).
From 1968 to 1981 he held senior production roles at Warner Bros., overseeing releases such as Catch-22 (1970) and Ice Station Zebra (1968). Later credits as producer include Postcards from the Edge (1990), The Remains of the Day (1993), Closer (2004), The Da Vinci Code (2006) and Angels & Demons (2009). He served as chairman and chief executive of Sony Pictures Entertainment from 1998 to 2003.
