Biography
Ron Howard is an American filmmaker and former actor. Born on 1 March 1954 in Duncan, Oklahoma, he began his career as a child actor, appearing in The Music Man (1962) and playing Opie Taylor in the television series The Andy Griffith Show from 1960 to 1968. He later portrayed Richie Cunningham in the sitcom Happy Days from 1974 to 1984.
Howard made his directorial debut with Grand Theft Auto (1977). His subsequent films include Cocoon (1985), Apollo 13 (1995), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), A Beautiful Mind (2001), Cinderella Man (2005), The Da Vinci Code (2006), Rush (2013), Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) and Inferno (2016). He has also produced television series and documentaries.
In 2025 he appeared as a guest star playing a version of himself in the series The Studio.
